Langford Law Offices is located at 55 Dover Street, Chatham, Ontario N7L 1S7

We are one lawyer (Brad Langford), one law clerk (Shirley Glassford), and one office manager (Susan White). We opened in 1998.

Brad Langford obtained his law degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1992, and was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1994.

Brad Langford is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Chatham, Past Chair of the Chatham-Kent Roundtable of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners, and is the Secretary Treasurer of the Kent Law Association.

Shirley Glassford has worked at Langford Law Offices since 2000. She is involved in all aspects of the work of Langford Law Offices.

Susan White manages the bookkeeping, banking, collections, and assists with real estate.

At Langford Law Offices, we help families deal with divorce and separation, death, and loss of employment. Additionally, we assist people with the legal aspects of buying and selling a home.

Our small size is a benefit to you the client. It means that you will be working with Brad throughout the legal process.

Family Law Divorce Cost

Brad’s Hourly Rate is $300/hr plus HST, plus disbursements (out of pocket expenses like service of documents, court fees, etc). This will be the rate for most matters other than uncontested divorces, uncontested estates, simple real estate matters, wills and powers of attorney, for which Langford Law Offices will usually charge a flat fee.

For a simple uncontested divorce, Langford Law Offices charges $1600 including disbursements and HST, and $300/hr plus HST for the preparation of a separation agreement.

Real Estate Lawyer Cost

Langford Law Offices charges $1000 plus HST to cover legal fees on the purchase of a home, plus disbursements, plus an additional $650 plus HST for a mortgage. There is a similar charge of $900 plus HST to cover legal fees on the sale of a home, plus disbursements. There is generally a charge of $500 plus HST for the preparation of an agreement of purchase and sale. If a real estate deal increases in complexity, the fee will also change.

Rates for wills and powers of attorney start at $400 plus HST for one person. The fee increases depending on the complexity of the will. Acting as lawyer for an estate is $300/hr plus HST.
